The Absurdity of Covid Parties

Summer of 2020, people started to hold "Covid Parties". These were basically parties that have the prime intention to get others infected with the virus.

Invitees were informed that the host has been infected, and people came to get themselves infected through the medium of this person. To attend this horrid party, everyone had to pay a certain amount of money. All the money paid by the attendees was gathered into one sum and used as the "prize money". Whoever tested positive first after the party got to keep the majority of the money.

The effects of attending these parties were quite simple: You caught the lethal disease. And depending on how it affects you, you either recovered from it or more likely, you got hospitalized and died.

You may think "Why would people do this?", and the main reason is that attendees don't believe in the severity of COVID-19. There's a lot of news circulating the news regarding COVID and most of it is fake. Unfortunately, since people didn't get any solid answers and most of the information was inconsistent, that led them to think the virus wasn't real. Attendees started relying on many reassuring but false information, reportedly fake news, that told them that the virus will do them no harm as long as they were young/healthy. When in reality, the situation was the complete opposite. It was a widely known fact that this disease doesn't weaken it's blow towards anyone, regardless of their age or state of health. Yet because of the blunder around Covid, people hesitated to believe this.

In one tragic case, a 30 year old man had attended one of these Covid Parties in Texas. He had thought the sickness wasn't real, prior to the party, and attended to really gauge how deadly it was. This man earned himself the majority of the prize money, a hospital bed in the Emergency Room, and ultimately death. A week before his death he told the nurses, regret lacing his voice, "I think I made a mistake. I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.” This was one of the many deaths caused by Covid parties held in Texas, Alabama, and countless other states. And the madness is still continuing.

In the end. there is no logical reason for one to attend a COVID party. If your only goal is to test to see if the virus is real or not, listen to the advice of health professionals who are knowledgable in the field or simply turn on the news! If you just want the money that comes with it, think about the thousands of dollars you'd have to pay for treatment and the permanent damage Covid can do to your health.

Testing it yourself just for two pennies is definitely not worth it. Remember that you're not just putting your life at risk, but the lives of people around you as well.
