Face Shield instructions

This project will be over a span of 4 weeks. In these four weeks you will be required to order or pick up materials from us, make your face shields, and then give the face shields to us.  We have provided instructions on when/how to do everything below, so please take the time to read through the instructions.

So before you go any further, please make sure to do the following.

  1. Sign up and become a member on our website https://www.onemaskonelifeoneworld.org/

  2. If we’re not in contact with you already, send us an email at onemaskonelifeoneworld@gmail.com for further steps.

WEEK 1:

  1. Choose Your Target:

First of all, choose a target for yourself on how many face shields you think you can make in these 4 weeks. It can be 5, 10, 20, 25 or more; it’s up to you.  Make sure to pick a number you think you can follow through on.

After you’ve decided, fill out this form to tell us how many you will make.

  1. Order/Collect Materials:

For face shields, you’ll need a special type of elastic, dura lar, and foam strips. We will be buying the elastic and foam strips for you, but you will need to buy the dura lar (plastic sheet.)

You will be ordering:

  • Dura Lar: the clear front to the face shield

And we’ll buy (if you live in the Bay area):

  • Elastic: A special type, durable and easy to use

  • Foam Strips: For around the top off the face shield

Either you’ll pick up the materials from our homes, and we’ll drop them off. Schedule a pick-up/ drop-off date to our email at onemaskonelifeoneworld@gmail.com

  1. Prep Materials:

Once materials arrive or have been dropped off, you’re all ready to start! To prep materials, start cutting up your dura lar, foam strips, and elastic till the start of the second week!

WEEK 2- Week 4:

Here are the following things you need to do from the second week to the last week.

  1. Face Shield Making

These 3 weeks will be dedicated to making masks. Here’s the video to make the face shield (start watching at 2:50):

If you are confused by the video, just ask us!

You can email us at onemaskonelifeoneworld@gmail.com, and we can set up a one on one meeting helping you virtually step by step.

  1. Check-Ins

At the end of every week, you will need to complete a check-in which records how many face shields you have made in that week. This is so that we can keep track of everybody’s count and update our website. We will be responsible for sending you the check-in every week and it will be your responsibility to complete it on time.

  1. Face Shield Drop-off

By Sunday of the third week, you should be done with all your face shields. If you are not, we will just be collecting the ones you have made so far. More information will be given when you are at this stage, but basically, they should be done around the third to fourth week.
